Academic Tutorial 11/12 - 2017-2018
Block 1:3 in the Learning Commons (library)
Welcome to your Academic Tutorial Block!
This class is designed to support Gr. 11 and 12 students and enhance their opportunities for academic success. This academic tutorial will have a teacher responsible for promoting positive study skills. Students may have the opportunity to be supported in areas of their particular focus.
Evaluation
Students will be awarded a work habit on their report card for the academic tutorial block based on the Rockridge Work Habits rubric (click here).
Work Habits in Academic Tutorial are treated as in any other course, and may affect standing on honor roll.
Good (G) Satisfactory (S) Needs Improvement (N)
Expectations
Location
Academic Tutorial blocks take place in the Rockridge Learning Commons. Students may be permitted to work in other areas of the school at the teacher’s discretion. Students are NOT permitted to leave the school during this block. If the Learning Commons is inaccessible for any reason, AT students will meet their teacher outside of the Learning Commons Doors.
Attendance
All students with an academic tutorial block are required to verify their individual attendance by signing in (in the first 10 minutes of the class) and signing out (at the end of class) with their Academic Tutorial teacher. Any absences must be excused by a parent or guardian through a phone call to the office.
Behaviour
Students on Academic Tutorial blocks are expected to use class time to complete school work. Students are not to disrupt other students working in the school nor students in other classes.
In Emergencies
In the event of an emergency/evacuation, academic tutorial students will meet their AT teacher on the field under the library “study” sign.
